In 2010 Carin Smuts was invited to speak at a Eco Building Conference and exposition. This innitiated an ongoing relationship with the Ecole d'Architecture de La Réunion in La Port since 2017 It is normally three to four weeks on site workshops at the school in La Reunion followed by some sessions online. The focus is on appropriate social, political and climatic architectuyral responces. Project sites are located on Reunion or on the African Continent. Research is done into contemporary tropical president studies. Students are encouraged to write and speak in english to prepare them for possible international work.
